BAC Water

$14.99

What is BAC Water 10ML?

BAC Water (or bacteriostatic water) is a sterile, non-pyrogenic water solution used primarily in research and laboratory settings for diluting or reconstituting lyophilized peptides and other injectable substances. It differs from plain sterile water in that it contains a preservative (most often benzyl alcohol) which helps inhibit bacterial growth after the vial has been opened.

How to Reconstitute Lyophilized Peptides

Warm Up

Take the peptide vial out of the fridge and let it sit for a few minutes.

01

02

Sanitize

Use an alcohol swab to clean the top of the vial.

03

Reconstitute

Fill a syringe with bacteriostatic water and slowly inject it into the vial.

Dissolve

Gently swirl the vial until the powder fully dissolves.

Description

Chemical Structure of BAC Water

Bacteriostatic water is essentially water for injection (WFI) combined with approximately 0.9%-by-volume benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic agent. It doesn’t have a “peptide sequence” because it is not a peptide-based compound, but the preservative and water meet pharmacopeial standards for sterile diluent solutions. For example, a typical product listing states “Water for Injection + 0.9% benzyl alcohol (9 mg/mL)” in a multi-use vial format.

What Are the Effects of BAC Water

In research-use applications, BAC Water is used for:

  • Reconstituting lyophilized peptides and other injectable research compounds, enabling precise dosing by dissolving the powder into a liquid medium.

  • Allowing multiple withdrawals from one vial, thanks to the preservative that helps prevent bacterial contamination once the vial has been opened — making it more cost-effective and practical for repeated use.

  • Maintaining the stability of peptide solutions over a storage period (often up to ~28 days if refrigerated and handled aseptically) when compared to single‐use diluents without preservatives.

Important Research-Use Disclaimer:
This product is supplied for laboratory and research purposes only. It is not intended for human or veterinary therapeutic use or consumption. Always follow sterile handling protocols and applicable regulatory guidelines when using bacteriostatic water in research settings.
